Understanding Eyelid Surgery

Blepharoplasty in San Jose can treat several conditions:

  • Excess skin that folds over the upper eyelid
  • Excess fat deposits that cause eyes to look puffy
  • Bags under the eyes
  • Sagging lower lids
  • Wrinkles on the lower eyelid

What to Expect

Dr. Lepore will place the incisions for your San Jose eyelid surgery carefully to minimize visibility of future scars. If the upper eyelid is being treated, an incision will be made in the upper eyelid crease to remove excess fat and skin and tighten muscles and tissue. If the lower eyelid is being treated, an incision will be made below the line of your lower eyelashes or inside the lower eyelid to remove excess fat and skin.

Eyelid surgery is frequently combined with a chemical peel to reduce discoloration of the skin below the eyes. For more complete facial rejuvenation, eyelid surgery may also be combined with surgical procedures such as a face lift or brow lift.

Your New Look

After swelling and bruising has subsided in several weeks, you will be able to see smoother skin and a "cleaner" looking eye appearance. Many patients feel that they look remarkably younger and more alert.
