Brow Lift

You may think that you need a facelift, but what you may not realize is that a facelift cannot improve several of the features that age your appearance: your brow and forehead. With a brow lift at our San Jose practice, board-certified plastic surgeons Dr. Benjamin Maser and Dr. Steven J. Bates can address this commonly overlooked area.

Understanding Brow Lift Surgery

A brow lift addresses several signs of aging in the upper region of your face including:

  • Reducing lines on the forehead, high on the bridge of the nose, and between the eyebrows
  • Lifting a sagging brow
  • Raising the eyebrows

A brow lift is often performed in conjunction with other surgical procedures such as eyelid surgery or a facelift. If you have discussed your options with one of our plastic surgeons and have decided that you are not ready for surgery, you may want to consider BOTOX® Cosmetic or chemical peels, dermabrasion or laser resurfacing.

What To Expect

A brow lift can be performed in several different ways.

  • An endoscope can be used in combination with small incisions made in the hairline. Through these small incisions and using the video images provided by the endoscope, tissue and muscle will be repositioned or removed to correct the wrinkles and deep creases in the forehead.
  • Incisions in the temple and the scalp may be used to correct a sagging brow. This may be combined with incisions in the upper eyelids to reduce frown lines.
  • A coronal brow lift requires an incision from ear to ear to lift the forehead and remove excess skin.

No matter which method of brow lift is being performed, Dr. Maser and Dr. Bates will choose the incision lines carefully so that any scars will be well hidden. After surgery, you may experience some swelling or bruising which will fade with time. You should be able to return to work in approximately 5 to 10 days.

Your New Look

After a brow lift, our patients look younger and more alert. Your eyes will be able to stand out because they will not be so heavily hooded by your brows and those deep wrinkles will be smoothed away.
