Breast Augmentation- ‘Gummy Bear’ Silicone Implants
This 33-year old woman had concerns about the dramatic change to the appearance of her breasts, following pregnancy and breast-feeding. She had lost quite a bit of her former volume, and noted significant sagging of her smaller B-cup breasts. Childbearing and nursing have produced noticeable skin laxity.
She discussed the possibility of a breast lift (mastopexy) with Dr. Lepore. That surgical option will cause some scarring, which she wanted to avoid for now. She decided not to undergo a breast lift at this time, and wished to proceed with a Breast Augmentation alone, to restore volume and counter the “deflated” appearance. After trying on the various types of breast implants, she chose a silicone, form stable, or “gummy bear”-type. The implants were inserted beneath the chest muscle. The patient is very pleased with the difference the surgery has made, and may consider the option of a breast lift at some point.
